Mozilla Suite - Web Browser and Email Program

Mozilla Suite is a good alternative for those of you with older computers running Windows 95, as Firefox and Thunderbird both require Windows 98 or later.

This version of Mozilla includes an Email Program so that you can use it to do email as well as surf the internet.

The file is 12.5 megabytes in size, so expect it to take up to an hour to download.

Once downloaded, simply click on the file and it will install. To set it up, go to 'Edit | Preferences'.

Email is accessed by clicking on the 'envelope' icon in the bottom left hand corner. When you click on that for the first time, you will be prompted for your email details.

AVG 7 Free Edition - Anti-virus Software

AVG Anti-virus Software provides a Free version of their Software for personal use.

Be aware that the program is 15 megabytes in size and will therefore take about 60 minutes to download.

Spybot - Search & Destroy can detect and remove spyware of different kinds from your computer. Spyware is a relatively new kind of threat that common anti-virus applications do not yet cover. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you didn't intentionally install, if your browser crashes, or if you browser start page has changed without your knowing, you most probably have spyware. But even if you don't see anything, you may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging that is silently tracking your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile of you that will be sold to advertisement companies. Spybot-S&D is free, so there's no harm in trying to see if something snooped into your computer, too :).
